Sometimes I see the weekend coming and wonder how I’m going to keep my boys entertained, and a few weeks ago, I decided to theme the weekend.
My boys like dinosaurs so I thought it would be an easy idea. Here is what I did:
- I ordered online (http://www.yellowmoon.org.uk) a few dinosaur items such as stencils, temporary tattoos, stretchy dinosaurs and dinosaur cookie cutters (they are plenty of other dinosaur items for you to choose from). We did some paintings with the stencils and baked butter cookies with the dinosaur-shaped cutters.
- I also found on the web some dinosaurs colouring pages, as well as information on the different dinosaurs to be able to tell my children the names of the different dinosaurs they were colouring.
- We went to the National History Museum in London (we got there at the opening time, 10:00 am, to avoid the queues). We probably only spent 45 minutes looking at the dinosaurs exhibit but it was really good.
All in all it was a great success with Mellow and Jed, and they were always busy and exciting but at the same time, we also had lots of quiet time colouring or cooking.
I’m planning to do more of these themed weekends. Next on my list: pirates will definitely be the next one, and then perhaps sharks, planes and witches.
If you have any ideas, I would love to hear from you.
