If you are looking for a family activity during the weekend, you can go into the woods and gather chestnuts. Chestnut season has just started. Weather permitting I am considering doing that this weekend.
My favorite cooking method is to roast them in a pan (don’t forget to make an incision on their skin and to cover the pan with a lid otherwise you are running the risk of having mashed chestnuts all over the place) and eat them as soon as they cool down.
